Presentation at the XIX ISA World Congress of Sociology in Toronto, Canada

From July 15-21, 2018, Nathalie Iloga Balep participated at the XIX ISA World Congress of Sociology in Toronto. Her presentation held the title "When Vocation meets Quantification: Office-holding in German prisons" and was part of the international QUAD-project. She was supported by a Böttcher-Congress-Scholarship.

The ICU travels to Edinburgh for the 12th Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Accounting Conference

Jacob Reilley and Christian Huber acted as participants at the 12th Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Accounting Conference in Edinburgh. The conference was held from the 11th until the 13th of July. Jacob Reilley had a paper presented at the main conference and also participated in the preceding emerging scholars colloquium. Christian Huber served as a discussant for multiple papers in the main conference.

Participation of ICU-Team at EGOS 2018

Christian Huber, Jacob Reilley, Alexandra Palt and Nathalie Iloga Balep have participated at the EGOS 2018 in Tallinn, Estland. Alexandra Palt was a participant of the EGOS Doctoral Colloquium. Christian Huber and Nathalie Iloga Balep presented their current research project "Accounting and the appropriation of and by organizational spaces: The case of German prisons". As a further project out of the international QUAD-project Jacob Reilley, Christian Huber and Nathalie Iloga Balep presented their comparative working paper "The role of administrative capacity in complementing performance measurement systems: how hospitals and prisons account for the missing service user".

Übernahme des Vorsitzes im Prüfungsausschusses wbStudG WiSo

Der bisherige Vorsitzende des Prüfungsausschusses für die weiterbildenden Studiengänge der Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftlichen Fakultät, Herr Prof. Dr. Klaus Beckmann, hat mit 01.04.2018 seine neue Funktion als Präsident der Helmut-Schmidt-Universität übernommen.

An seiner Stelle hat Tobias Scheytt nunmehr den Vorsitz übernommen und ist damit für die Leitung des Gremiums zuständig, das für alle weiterbildenden Studiengänge der Fakultät zuständig ist.

Alexandra Palt hat vom 5. bis 23. März 2018 einen Forschungsaufenthalt am UCD College of Business in Dublin verbracht. Sie hielt dort im Forschungsseminar des Centre for Innovation, Technology & Organisation am 8. März einen Vortrag über Ihr Dissertationsprojekt zum Thema "Vertrauen in Blockchain". Zudem konnte Sie vor Ort ihre empirische Forschung vertiefen. Der Forschungsaufenthalt wurde finanziell unterstützt durch den Verein der Freunde und Förderer der Helmut-Schmidt-Universität/Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg e. V.

"Risiko-Management erfolgreich einführen", ein Artikel von Karl-Heinz Busche, Christoph Gahrns, Nadine Gerhardt und Christian Huber wurde in der Controlling & Management Review veröffentlicht. Controlling & Management Review ist die meistzitierte Fachzeitschrift für Controlling und Management im deutschsprachigen Raum. Der Artikel beschreibt wie das Bundeswehrkrankenhaus Hamburg unter Federführung der Controlling-Abteilung ein eigenes Risiko-Management-System eingeführt und dieses erfolgreich mit bestehenden Management-Systemen zusammengeführt hat.

Research stay at the University of Sydney

Dr. Christian Huber will follow the invitation of the University of Sydney and stay from in Australia 5th Feb to 13th Mar for a research visit. During his stay he will participate in the ASOP workshop (Accounting as a Social and Organizational Practice) on 15th and 16th Feb and present a paper co-authored with Lichen Yu, PhD, University of Sydney, titled "Modes of constitution: an essay on accounting performativity". He will also present a papr at the Brown Bag Seminar of the  Discipline of Accounting, University Sydney. The paper, co-authored with Nathalie Iloga Balep is titled "Quantifying the'in-between' of prisons using indicators: The tension between security and resocialization through the lens of liminality". For the duration of his stay, Dr. Huber can only be reached via e-mail.
